After the Rain
Richard Terrell

After the rain
the fields are deeply colored,
and sparkle
in that heaven-sent glaze.
Parting clouds make way
for new light, and
all the earth
invites a new rejoicing
in its rising life.
Time's been when I thought
to lie in that earth,
beneath that tree
over there,
mingling my dust
with hers
and together grain by grain
await our Resurrection.
