Explanation: As Jesus continued making the rounds of various cities on his way to his final journey to Jerusalem, his disciples were still feeling a sense of amazement about his teaching that salvation was impossible unless God accomplished it for us. This he would soon do through Christ's sacrifice on the cross, an event which Christ outlined to them as they travelled together. As symbolized in the Dali painting above, the crucifixion had extra dimensions which went far beyond the mere physical event. It became the crux event for all of human and spiritual history.

Mark 10:34 And they shall mock him, [Luke 18:32 (and he shall be) spitefully entreated,] and (they) shall scourge him, and shall spit upon him, [Matthew 20:19 and (shall) crucify him:] and shall kill him: and the third day he shall rise again.
