And all postings will be housed in the Archive Page. ] Explanation: In Ezekiel 2, the LORD tells Ezekiel to stand upright and delivers a book to him which contained lamentations, and mourning, and woe. As a priest, Ezekiel would have been around the sacred books and may have handled them. In a similar way, in the painting above, a priest holds a book, a Gradual (a hymnal for the Mass, i.e., Communion). But Ezekiel was about to do something unusual with the book which the LORD gave him -- for in the next chapter, at God's command, he ate the book. [ Sermons: James Philip. Dennis Prutow.
