I will be adding links, resources, images, and the like, upgrading the former work-through which began with the 2013-10-12 posting which can be found, along with the full Genesis to Revelation postings, in the Archive Page. Postings will be at midnight Eastern Time, as I am able. However, no chapters will be skipped, even though a posting may be late. And all postings will be housed in the Archive Page. ] Explanation: In Psalm 150, the Psalmist calls upon everything that has breath to praise the LORD for his power and glory, using wind, stringed, and percussion instruments. He opens and closes his Psalm with the words, "Praise ye the LORD." (a). Praise the LORD for His Greatness. The Psalmist exhorts us to praise the LORD according to his excellent greatness in his sanctuary on earth and in his dwelling in heaven (1-2). (b). Praise the LORD With Musical Instruments. He exhorts us to praise him with wind instruments, stringed instruments, and percussion instruments (3-5). (c). Praise the LORD, All That Breathes. He calls upon everything that has breath to praise the LORD (6). NOTE. The structure presented above is based on The Literary Structure of the Old Testament, David A. Dorsey, 1999, p. 186. Today's Psalm has a synthetic parallelism (ideas in the Psalm match one another, but each adds ideas to the others). [ Sermons: Steven J Lawson. I have attempted to list conservative, scholarly resources. However, some providers use liberal or liberal-influenced commentaries such as the Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges (in Bible Hub). Such commentaries are undoubtedly included by the provider for the wealth of useful information and comments which they provide. By consulting several commentaries, it should be fairly easy to sort out the wheat from the chaff. If, however, you would like personal assistance, write to me at AD LIB ARTS EMAIL. [Some commentators take the Psalm in Habakkuk 3 to be a standard model for the Psalms. Habakkuk's Psalm begins with the name of the composer (Habakkuk) and a musical notation ("upon Shigionoth"). It closes with a dedication or a "send to" notice ("To the chief singer on my stringed instruments"). I have arranged similar material, where it is found in the Psalter, in accord with the model in Habakkuk.]
