I will be adding links, resources, images, and the like, upgrading the former work-through which began with the 2013-10-12 posting which can be found, along with the full Genesis to Revelation postings, in the Archive Page. Postings will be at midnight Eastern Time, as I am able. However, no chapters will be skipped, even though a posting may be late. And all postings will be housed in the Archive Page. ]
[Traditional Patriarchal Timeline. Judges. Judges Period Chronology. Kings of Judah and Israel #1. Kings of Judah and Israel #2]. After the cleansing of the Temple and the Passover (recounted in the previous two chapters), the people dispersed into the territories of Judah, Benjamin, Ephraim, and Manasseh; and there they destroyed the pagan images, groves, high places, and altars. Thus there was a major reversal of paganism in the leading tribes of the Kingdom of Judah and of the (former) Kingdom of Israel (1). In Jerusalem, Hezekiah appointed the courses for the priests and Levites to offer the various sacrifices and to give thanks and praise in the Temple. He also arranged for the support of the priests and Levites from the offerings. And the people brought in so much that it accumulated in heaps (2-10). Hezekiah then made chambers in the Temple to store the extras. He appointed overseers and arranged them by their genealogical positions (11-19). Hezekiah also instituted similar measures among the priests and Levites in the other parts of Judah. He served God with all of his heart; and God caused him to prosper (20-21). Hezekiah began his reign during the reign of Hoshea (732-712 B.C.), the last king of Israel. Hosea's reign is described in the following DAWN page: 2 Kings 17. Also, Hezekiah's life and reign (741-687 B.C.) had overlaps with the ministries of the following prophets: Hosea (760-720 B.C.); Isaiah (740-681 B.C.); and Micah (737-690 B.C.). [ Sermons: John Flavel. Various. ] RESOURCES PLEASE NOTE: Use the resources on this and other sites thoughtfully, particularly the commentaries and encyclopedias. I have attempted to list conservative, scholarly resources. However, some providers use liberal or liberal-influenced commentaries such as the Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges (in Bible Hub). Such commentaries are undoubtedly included by the provider for the wealth of useful information and comments which they provide. By consulting several commentaries, it should be fairly easy to sort out the wheat from the chaff. If, however, you would like personal assistance, write to me at AD LIB ARTS EMAIL.
