I will be adding links, resources, images, and the like, upgrading the former work-through which began with the 2013-10-12 posting which can be found, along with the full Genesis to Revelation postings, in the Archive Page. Postings will be at midnight Eastern Time, as I am able. However, no chapters will be skipped, even though a posting may be late. And all postings will be housed in the Archive Page. ]
[Traditional Patriarchal Timeline. Judges. Judges Period Chronology. Kings of Judah and Israel #1. Kings of Judah and Israel #2]. Hezekiah (716-687 B.C.) was a very good king and walked in the good ways of King David (1010-970 B.C.), his forefather. He reigned for 29 years (1-2). In the first year of his reign, in the first month of the religious calendar (Abib), he began to repair the Temple. He exhorted the officials and the workers to be diligent because the LORD had judged them in the past for their neglect and abuse of the Temple and for turning from the LORD (3-11). Accordingly, everyone sanctified themselves and began the repairs and cleansing of the Temple (12-19). When they finished, Hezekiah offered a full range of offerings in the Temple (20-24). He also reconstituted the musical service which had been established by David, Gad, and Nathan. The music and singing went on while the various offerings were being sacrificed (25-30). Hezekiah then had the congregation come into the Temple and offer their sacrifices. Great rejoicing followed (31-36). Hezekiah began his reign during the reign of Hoshea (732-712 B.C.), the last king of Israel. Hoshea's reign is described in the following DAWN page: 2 Kings 17. Also, Hezekiah's life and reign (741-687 B.C.) had overlaps with the ministries of the following prophets: Hosea (760-720 B.C.); Isaiah (740-681 B.C.); and Micah (737-690 B.C.). I have attempted to list conservative, scholarly resources. However, some providers use liberal or liberal-influenced commentaries such as the Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges (in Bible Hub). Such commentaries are undoubtedly included by the provider for the wealth of useful information and comments which they provide. By consulting several commentaries, it should be fairly easy to sort out the wheat from the chaff. If, however, you would like personal assistance, write to me at AD LIB ARTS EMAIL.
