Let the Children Come to Me (1805)

Explanation: As Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem for the final confrontation with the Jewish authorities and his resulting crucifixion, some brought little children to him asking him to touch them and pray for them. The disciples tried to stop this, but Jesus rebuked them and said that children were the model of how everyone should receive the Kingdom of God. These children were the complete opposite in attitude and understanding of those who crucified Jesus.

Matthew 19:13-15; Mark 10:13-16; Luke 18:15-17      Matthew 19:13 Then were there brought unto him little children [Mark 10:13 young children / Luke 18:15 infants,] that he should put his hands on them [Mark 10:13 & Luke 18 15 touch them,] and pray: Mark 10:13 and his disciples rebuked those that brought them.
Mark 10:14 But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, Luke 18:16 [and] called them unto him, and and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Mark 10:15 Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not [[Luke 18:17 in no wise] enter therein. Mark 10:16 And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them. Matthew 19:15 and departed thence.
